Tell us about Kissed By Water:
Kissed By Water is the story of a modern-day Witch who is tired of being the shy, good girl. She wants to spread her wings but the man she wants to take her on that journey believes he’s all wrong for her. She cares enough about him to trust him, and he cares enough about her to turn her away.
What inspired this novel?
This is book three in a series, so the inspiration is long-standing. There are a lot of books out there about magic and Witches, but so much of it is poorly researched (or just plain wrong) it was really frustrating. So I wanted to write a series that is more closely aligned to the true spirit of the old religions.
Very early on, when I was matching up characters in my head, I though it would be funny to put the virgin and the manwhore together – opposites attract, right? And it was funny until I had to write their story! Boy, did they make me work for their happy ending.
What are you reading right now?
I’m reading Lorelei James’ Mastered series.
Number one thing to do on your bucket list?
Build my dream home.
Best thing about being an Aussie?
Living in a democracy where I have the right to vote, to be educated, to own property, and to buy as many books as I damn-well want.
What you want readers to know about the romance genre?
Romance is not a dirty word. At its heart, romance is about relationships, and we’re all invested in that concept. People are all about relationships. We all want to be in a relationship, or swear we’ll never be in another relationship again; or we want to be out of the one we’re in, or we want to be in someone else’s. Romance lets us explore a whole rang of situations and scenarios, new worlds and opportunities, angst and triumph – all in the comfort of our own imaginations. It’s like magic.
What have you got in store for your readers in 2016?
The fourth book in my Watchtower series is due for publication in March, which is always exciting. I also have two new series in the writing diary for 2016. As Delwyn Jenkins I plan to write a four book, contemporary romance series set in coastal America. As DJ Michaels I have a series of erotic romance novellas which are paranormals with sci-fi elements (they are way cooler than that sounds).
What were your big achievements of 2015?
I was on the committee for the RWA conference in August – just surviving that was an achievement in itself. I also had two books out (one under each name) which was really thrilling (even though it’s still a bit weird to see my name on a published book).

Charlotte McLaren is tired of being the good girl – the shy, gentle soul that everyone tiptoes around in case she startles. She wants to be strong and decisive, as powerful and independent as her Witch-sisters. She’s determined to join in the fight against their enemy and to do that she has to challenge everything she’s been taught to believe.
Tristan, a Watchtower Knight, has spent three agonizing months locked in a hell of dark magic – and he emerges a changed man. No longer fun and carefree, there’s a darkness in him now that stalks and prowls, just waiting to escape. A darkness he’s desperate to keep from everyone he cares about, especially the lovely Charlotte.
But his water Witch lures him with her innocence and determination, making demands he’s not sure he can fulfill. His honor demands he walk away, but his heart already knows it’s too late.

Giving a good interview is as much of a skill as asking interesting questions and writing good books. Love this interview with Delwyn Jenkins on AusRomToday.
