AUSSIE MONTH with J. L. Perry

Describe yourself in one word:
Perfectionist

Tell us about your current work-in-progress:
My current WIP is called HOOKER. It’s a Romantic Suspense. It’s about a young girl who gets adopted by a wealthy socialite at the age of 11. Jade thinks her life is looking up for the better when she’s showed with designer clothes and vacations all over the world.  She’s placed into one of the finest all-girls school in the country, and a finishing school. What she doesn’t realise is, her adoptive mother is actually a madam, and spends the next 7 years grooming Jade to become a high class escort. On her 18th birthday, all is revealed. She is forced to sign a contract for 7 years. 1 year of service for every year her adoptive mother looked after her. Although unhappy about her situation, she eventually accepts that this her life, for the interim anyway. That is, until she breaks all the rules and has a one night stand with a handsome, charismatic stranger, Brock Weston. This encounter with Mr Weston, changes everything.

What inspired this novel?
Like all my books, it just came to me. I have no idea where my ideas come from. They just pop in my head and refuse to leave until I’ve written them down.

What are you reading right now?
Nothing.  I have deadlines to fulfil, so I have no time to read at the moment.

Number one thing to do on your bucket list?
Experience a white Christmas.

Best thing about being an Aussie?
Everything. Country, food, people, climate.

What you want readers to know about the romance genre?
I love all genres, but Romance is hands down my favourite. I love losing myself in a good love story, going through trials and tribulations of the characters. Watching them grow and eventually finding their HEA. The majority of book boyfriends are the perfect men. So much so, there are times I come out of that idyllic world and get shitty at my husband. Haha.

What have you got in store for your readers in 2016?
I have three books planned for 2016. Hooker, Jax and Nineteen Letters.

What were your big achievements of 2015?
Bastard the book I released in September, sat at #1 on iTunes for weeks after release. I also signed a 5 book deal the publishing company Hachette.

Bastard
JL Perry

My name is Carter Reynolds. I was born a bastard and I’ll die a bastard. I learnt it at a young age, and nothing and nobody can change that. I’m on a one-way path of destruction, and God help anyone who gets in my way. I hate my life. Actually, I hate pretty much everything.

That’s until I meet the kid next door. Indi-freakin’-ana. My dislike for her is instant. From the moment I lay eyes on her, she ignites something within me. She makes me feel things I thought I was incapable of feeling. I don’t like it, not one bit. When she looks at me with her big, beautiful, haunting green eyes, it’s like she can see into the depths of my soul. It freaks me the hell out. She’s like sunshine and rainbows in my world of gloom and doom. I hate sunshine and rainbows.
