Tell us about Modern Heart:
Modern Heart is the third book in my contemporary romance series, City Love. It’s the story of tough girl, Scarlett Wong, a Creative Director at an advertising agency and also a talented artist. Scarlett doesn’t do relationships but is finding this increasingly difficult with good guy, John Hart, around. Definitely a case of opposites attract. He’s the reason Scarlett has been offered an exhibition in New York to exhibit her artwork. By the end of the book, Scarlett will have to face up to the reasons why she pushes everyone away and why she’s been reluctant pursue a career in art, which is what she’s truly passionate about. It will be a bumpy ride but there’s plenty of laughter, friendships and love to enjoy along the way.

What inspired this novel?
It’s going to sound strange, but my son inspired this story! He started school a couple of years ago at what happens to be a very academic local school where some (and I say some, definitely not all) children are pushed to achieve from a young age. I don’t want to say too much because it’s Scarlett’s story to tell, but I wanted to explore the idea of how this could affect someone into adulthood. I also worked in advertising earlier in my career, so I had fun weaving Scarlett’s career into the story.

What are you reading right now?
I just finished reading Almost Perfect by Susan Mallery, one of the books in her Fool’s Gold series. I’m really enjoying the series.

Number one thing to do on your bucket list?
To go for a drive in a Lamborghini.

Best thing about being an Aussie?
The weather!

What you want readers to know about the romance genre?
Be proud of the books you read. The genre is one of the most widely read and profitable in the world!

What have you got in store for your readers in 2016?
The fourth book in my City Love series, Wish List, will be out in May. I can’t wait to share Cate’s story, which will be the last book in the series.

What were your big achievements of 2015?
Releasing two books with Momentum. The Pitch was released in May, followed by Modern Heart in November. It was a busy, but very productive year!
