AUSSIE MONTH with Cathleen Ross

Describe yourself in one word:
Obsessive

Tell us about what inspired your latest novel, Base:
Base is a zombie apocalypse novel inspired by my time living on the Navy Base when the government was changing it to civilian and spent quite a lot of time with the navy families who lived there. I really enjoyed their war stories, which the average civilian wouldn’t hear. The Base is one of the few totally fenced off compounds in Sydney and I thought that this would be one of the only places where humans would be able to hold off a zombie apocalypse. I based my hero on the best qualities of the navy men I lived with.

What are you reading right now?
I’m reading Christina Phillip’s Hold me unto Midnight.

Number one thing to do on your bucket list?
Travel to Egypt.

Best thing about being an Aussie?
The freedom and stability of our wonderful county.

What you want readers to know about the romance genre?
That it’s so diverse and there are so many great writers.

What have you got in store for your readers in 2016?
I plan to do a literary book, which is about the only genre I haven’t written in.

What were your big achievements of 2015?
I’ve been hitting the US, Aus and UK Amazon best seller lists with Taken by the Sheikh along with Christina Phillips and Mel Tescho. Base hit the Australian Amazon best seller list in Sci fi upon release. That was new for me.
