AUSSIE MONTH with Cathleen Ross
Describe yourself in one word:
Obsessive
Tell us about what inspired your latest novel, Base:
Base is a zombie apocalypse novel inspired by my time living on the Navy Base when the government was changing it to civilian and spent quite a lot of time with the navy families who lived there. I really enjoyed their war stories, which the average civilian wouldn’t hear. The Base is one of the few totally fenced off compounds in Sydney and I thought that this would be one of the only places where humans would be able to hold off a zombie apocalypse. I based my hero on the best qualities of the navy men I lived with.
