Tell us about Down & Dusty: Lucky:
Down and Dusty: Lucky is hot off the press. It’s the second short story in a rural erotic series from Escape Publishing. Lucky is the publican in a small town and she’s been burned by men in the past. She has a rule of no action at home and that’s suited her fine until a new cop turns up in town and has her questioning the rules.
What inspired this novel?
I have a couple of stories published with Escape Publishing and Kate Cuthbert (Managing Editor) had an idea for another series of erotic short stories. I couldn’t believe my luck when she asked if I’d like to be a part of this series – Down and Dusty. The heroine’s occupation and the town were Kate’s invention, and I took the story from there. So, I guess that means Kate’s the inspiration!
I’ve lived in small country towns (but not this small) and I’m an avid traveller of the inland parts of Australia, so to write about dusty rural areas was a great thrill. I toured this part of inland Queensland in 2004 and it was a fascinating area, so writing about it brought back the feelings of those vast open spaces that can be so dry, and occasionally so very wet.
What are you reading right now?
I just finished book 1 in the Down and Dusty series, Casey by Rachael Johns.
Number one thing to do on your bucket list?
Later this year hubby and I are going to make attempt #2 to swim with whale sharks. We went before the RWA Fremantle Conference but the whale sharks avoided us. We got a free pass to go again and we have to use it this year. Swimming with whale sharks has been on my bucket list for a long time. I hope they’re friendlier this trip!
Best thing about being an Aussie?
So many beautiful places in one country.
What do you want readers to know about the romance genre?
There is something for everyone – so long as you like a happy ending!
What have you got in store for your readers in 2016?
Just before Lucky, I had a short story in an anthology Tonight, She’s Yours edited by Rose Caraway. It’s a wild anthology about cuckold fantasies. Unless something pops up super quickly, you’ll have to wait for 2017 for another story. I blog all the time, so you can always come and chat! (www.cateellink.com)
What were your big achievements of 2015?
I had a Secret Housewife story in 2015, Lana. She was a lot wilder than my usual heroines but such a lot of fun. And the cuckold story, Michael’s Moment. Both are stories with multiple partners but that pushed my boundaries and my imagination. I think it’s important to keep pushing myself and learning.

They say that no one has secrets in a small town – these women prove them wrong.
Eight brand-new stories from some of Australia’s hottest writers in Australia’s hottest genre. From the bar stools of the local pub to the wide open plains of the biggest stations in the world, these tales travel the dusty roads to the heart of Australia and the women who understand how to work hard – and play even harder.
In the latest in the wildly successful Secret Confessions series from Escape Publishing, the women of Down & Dusty invite you into their lives – and their bedrooms.
As the single female owner of Milpinyani Spring’s only pub, Lucky has learned that her behaviour has to be above reproach. She works hard at home, and when she needs to play hard, she does so – far away from the prying eyes of her neighbours and friends. So when the hot new cop swaggers up to bar, she knows the rules: look, don’t touch. But Dare doesn’t know how to play her game, and he’s about to show her that the only rules that count are the ones that you break.
