AUSSIE MONTH: Mandy Magro
AUSSIE MONTH with Mandy Magro
Describe yourself in one word:
What is your background with regard to writing?
I began writing about 6 years ago, when I found myself confined to the house with a baby and unable to go out and work on the land like I was used to. I love motherhood and Chloe is my everything, don’t get me wrong, but I also needed to unleash my creative side. So, I sat down and began writing Rosalee Station, unaware it was going to be signed by Penguin within a month of handing the manuscript in. 6 books in and I am now writing for Harlequin. I couldn’t imagine my life without writing…I love it!
Tell us about Country At Heart and what inspired this story?
Country At Heart was my latest book to hit the shelves on September 1st 2014. I wanted to write about our amazing Aussie heroes that fight the war with their bomb detection dogs by their sides.
What are you reading right now?
My Brother-But-One by T.M. Clarke
Number one thing to do on your bucket list?
Go to the southern parts of America with my hubby so we can see live country music shows, eat copious amounts of pie and experience ranch life.
Best thing about being an Aussie?
What you want readers to know about the romance genre?
It’s not only for women – it’s for men too.
What have you got in store for your readers in 2015?
I’m currently editing book number 6, The Wildwood Sisters.
What were your big achievements of 2014?
Landing myself an agent in the U.S.
Country At Heart
A wounded soldier and a free spirit, both determined to follow their dreams – can their love survive?

But life has other plans for Dean when he and Indy are wounded in action in Afghanistan and sent home to his family’s seaside horse property, Whispering Meadows, to heal.
Free-spirited Summer has agreed to spend one last holiday with her parents at their luxurious vacation home, despite her father’s resistance to her plans for her career. But events take an unexpected turn when Summer and Dean meet and discover that love at first sight truly exists.
But can they overcome the very real challenges of coming from different sides of the tracks?
And when Summer has to face the unpleasant truth about an old friend, as well as come to terms with the after-effects of a bewildering assault, she has to make a heartbreaking decision about their relationship. Can Dean’s love ultimately sway her?
