I’d like to introduce you to my hump day hunk, Owen Bellamy, the hero in my latest release One Real Man.

What does Owen look like? In a word, yummy — grey eyes, dark hair, hunky build. Owen has the classic rags to riches story. He grew up poor, but now he’s made his fortune through construction work. Even though he’s wealthy, he doesn’t have any airs or graces and still has down to earth tastes. My inspiration for my hero was Henry Cavill, the gorgeous English actor who starred in The Tudors, in which he was praised for displaying ‘charm, depth, and a killer bod.’

Owen first meets Paige Kerrigan when they’re sixteen. Owen’s dad is the Kerrigans’ caretaker, and Owen has to clean the Kerrigans’ pool. Rich, spoilt Paige likes to flaunt herself in front of Owen, who is smitten with him. But when things get serious between them, she spurns and humiliates him in public.

Years later, the tables are turned. Owen is now renting the Kerrigans’s mansion, where Paige is hiding out after a messy divorce and public scandal. Broke and crushed, she’s forced to take the only job available—being Owen’s housekeeper.

This is Owen’s chance to exact some revenge, but he isn’t a vindictive man, and he still harbours feelings for Paige, though he tries hard to suppress them. As he realises the trauma she’s been through and sees how much she’s changed from the spoiled teenager he knew, he can’t help falling in love with her all over again.

Owen likes to tease Paige. He likes to ruffle her feathers and reveal the heat and passion that simmers beneath her polished beauty.

Here’s a short teaser from my book in which Owen and Paige have just exchanged a steamy kiss:

“Why are you doing this?” she murmured.

“I told you. Your arms need a massage.”

“No, why are you kissing me?”

“I could ask you the same question.”

“I asked you first.”

“Okay. I couldn’t resist your sexy arse anymore.” He grinned down at her. The smoothness of her arms was getting to him. His hands itched to wander all over her, to explore all her secrets. “So what’s your excuse?”

She hesitated, chewing on her delicious lower lip. “I don’t know.” For a second she seemed totally confused. “I don’t know what it is about you that makes me act the way I do.”

“Maybe it’s my sexy arse.”

“Oh!” Her indignation quickly melted to wry amusement. “All right, I admit it. You are kinda…attractive.”

“Just kinda attractive?” Gliding his hands down her arms, he was rewarded by her telltale quiver and the sudden flash of heat in her eyes. “I hate to think how you’d kiss someone you thought was really hot.”

“O-okay, you’re definitely attractive.” She frowned at him.

“Hey, ease up before I get too cocky.”

“Don’t fish for compliments, then.”

 

Owen is driven by the hurts he suffered in the past, but he’s not into revenge, and he’s honest enough to recognise where he’s gone wrong. He can be stubborn and headstrong, but he’s also completely loyal and will do anything for the people he loves. He doesn’t lose his heart very easily, but when he does fall for a woman, she’ll have him for life, and he won’t let anything—not even pride—get between them.
