Tell us about Jacaranda Wife book:

Jacaranda Wife is about a family who journey to Australia and re-plant themselves Downunder. Our home-loving heroine, Katie, finds herself tightening her seatbelt on a plane to Sydney – and her grip on the armrest. Her husband might have found out about her liaison with her best friend’s husband, so putting 10,000 miles between them seems like a good idea – or does it? Essentially who she meets, and how she copes with a move 10,000 miles from home, forms the basis of the book. It tackles issues such as infidelity, motherhood and love.

What inspired this book?
Life. We had recently moved back to Australia when I wrote it, and whilst I absolutely love Australia, it was a time of great upheaval for me. I wanted my heroine to grapple with conflicting thoughts and issues and, at the time, I was exploring the idea of where ‘home’ is. Also, I wondered what would happen to a woman who was ‘cooped’ up with young children and how she would cope with ‘who she was’ and issues of faithfulness.

Who are the main characters and why will we love them?
Katie is the main heroine and you’ll love her because she’s honest and real – if a little bit stressed with dealing with young children and freaking out about spiders! She’s human, after all, and is dealing with some not-very-healthy thoughts about her best friend’s husband; she loves her kids, she loves her husband, but she’s not quite sure who her friends are and discovers all is not quite what it seems…. You’ll love Tom, too. He’s the strong, silent type, and while he loves his wife (Katie) he’s trying to support the family, which takes him away from home. He wants to make sure the family have enough money, but life might just be throwing him temptations, too, and he has to decide where his heart lies.

For you, what’s the best thing about Fridays?
That before-the-weekend feeling. The prospect of not quite knowing what the weekend will bring! And, if it’s the holidays, a break from the gruelling routine of being up at 5.45am to take my youngest to swim club on a Saturday!

What’s coming up next for you?
As well as all my Tweeting, Facebooking, buying surf boards for our next holiday, guest blogging and tearing three boys apart from fighting over one KitKat, I’m writing my second book. It’s about three women who all have different wants and desires – plus a few secrets. Essentially, it’s about love, honesty and friendship.
