What inspired Cuffs?
Sydney, my hometown. My first romance novel, Doctors Beyond Borders is set in Sudan and Mykonos, which are wonderfully exotic places to visit, research and write about, however, I love Sydney and wanted to write a novel and series based here. As for the story, I wanted to explore and incorporate elements of the underworld and criminal activity that tend to flourish in the urban landscape and convey the undesirable, gritty aspects that make these areas so intriguing, despite their development and gentrification in recent years.

Who are the main characters and why will we love them?
Lacey Maples is my young heroine caught up in a dangerous situation she wasn’t expecting. This leads to a rapid journey of self-discovery where she is bombarded with a whole lot of new feelings, emotions and risk in a very short timeframe. Sheltered for most of her life from the raw reality of crime, like many of us have been, throughout the book, Lacey develops into a woman who can make difficult decisions even if it means risking her own life.

Alex Petrov is my hunky hero but there’s more to him than meets the eye. He’s tough, he’s street smart and he finds himself caught up in a “shitstorm” (his words). It means he has to think outside the box and be ready for anything to happen.

When these two characters come together be prepared for some HOT and STEAMY scenes!

For you, what’s the best thing about Fridays?
Many things! I only have a three period school day as opposed to five periods in my other life as a teacher; despite all the sporting stuff my kids get up to on the weekends, we all seem so much more relaxed on a Friday evening; and once in a while the hubs and I go on our ‘date night’. Pretty good day all round.

What’s coming up next for you?
The second book in The Undercover Series, Bass. I’m currently editing it. This is a story set in an inner city Sydney nightclub called Hellfire. Stay tuned for murder, bikies and the two main characters, Elizabeth and Kurt. Lacey and Alex make an appearance too. Release date for this book is 26^th November, 2015.
