Draw On My Heart – book one of the Capello Brothers series

An excerpt from CHAPTER ONE

As she stood in the open doorway, I knew this could only end one way. I’d seen enough trouble in my time to know this woman was the very definition of the word, and yet I didn’t, couldn’t, look away.

As her piercing green eyes found mine and pinned me against the wall; I was unable to move, unable to escape her unrelenting eye contact. In that instant everything stopped: the pumping music, the buzzing of the tattoo guns, the inane boasting about conquests and scores. All I saw was her. All I heard was my own thumping heartbeat and my breathing becoming shallower by the minute.

With her black hair pinned back smoothly and dressed immaculately in a sheer blouse, tight-fitting skirt and towering heels that made her legs go on for ever, she could be in charge of any boardroom in this city. Logic told me she must’ve been lost, but the brazen look in her eyes defied the thought almost instantly.

Without breaking eye contact, she strode toward me, straight past the front counter and the ensuing shouts of our office girl Mae and the bemused looks of other customers. She didn’t once flinch or even seem bothered by the fact she’d just pissed off an entire room of people. Even a cursory look and comment from my brother Dominic, a man so intimidating both with his words and physique that I’d seen grown men cross the street to keep out of his way, didn’t phase her.

Dom looked more than surprised, and without a word we both exchanged glances of wariness. That one look from Dom confirmed my own thoughts; here was trouble, and she had her sights set on me.

I was standing by the time she reached my booth. “Roman Capello, right?”, my name rolling off her tongue effortlessly. Her voice so smooth she could read the dictionary and still make it sound like music to your soul.

My eyes surveyed her and fuck was she was hot. Curves in all the right places, legs that seemed to stretch on forever, and all showcased perfectly in an outfit that screamed attention. Not to mention those heels. If I calculated correctly, with them off she’d be about level with the base of my throat, a visual that could surely only lead to trouble. No doubt about it, she was breathtaking. How was a man meant to keep his nose, let alone his hands, clean with a woman like this parading around?

Looking up, I realised she was watching me, patiently. I felt myself blush at the notion that this woman had just, appreciatively by the look on her face, watched me check her out.

Judging by the satisfied look she was now wearing, this woman was no stranger to male attention – certainly she knew how to work her attributes to her best advantage. If she wanted my attention she’d definitely won it.
