Author Spotlight: H.C. Brown

Describe yourself in one word:
Perfectionist

What is your background with regard to writing?
I have qualifications in English Language and Literature from Oxford University.

When did you first begin writing with a view of embarking on a career as a published author?
Not until 2006, I entered a competition with a mystery story and received third place J

Your latest novel, Unlocked is a M/M erotica novel with elements of BDSM, genetically enhanced sex slaves, insatiable doms, delicious subs and hunky fire-fighters…  What inspired the idea for Unlocked:
I dream most of my stories, so most of my plots come that way then often enhanced by music.  I love big muscle bound men in uniform, so Special Ops guys slotted into the story very well. The BDSM….well,  I love writing about the D/s scene but like to include an exciting plot as well— something to stir the emotions .  I write in a number of voices, this is my ‘in your face’ voice. Unlocked will take the reader on a roller coaster ride of emotions and is not for the faint of heart. I assure you, these characters barely get out with their lives.

After rescuing central character Chanze, firefighter Delano Briggs uncovers a darker plot which involves genetic experimentation and immoral prostitution rings. Tell us, what character trait will most endear Delano to your readers?
Delano is the leader of the original Special Ops team, he is as tough as they come and a very ah….demanding Dom but he is also caring and has a heart of gold. He would give his life for any member of his team. He is the man you can trust to protect you from evil.

There has been much attention on the BDSM lifestyle of late, as a writer exploring and presenting the BDSM lifestyle, what’s the one thing you’d like people to know about the lifestyle?
I made a point of conducting a great deal of research into the BDSM lifestyle and the one thing I discovered is that the true Dom/ sub relationship is loving and caring. A sub trusts his Dom to look after him, and to give him the pleasure he craves or needs. Sadism is a very different thing, sadists do not care about the welfare of their subs, they are violent and dangerous. Too many times the sadistic aspect of the scene is promoted in novels and the normal BDSM scene is misjudged.  All my Doms care deeply about their subs, and are loving Dominants. My stories are love stories, and the BDSM enhances the relationship and is secondary to the plot.

What do you want readers to know about the romance genre?
The romance genre is an escape into a world of your choosing, from Science fiction to Scottish Highlanders, the reader travels the romantic journey and falls in love with the hero. I always love an ahh ending and try to give that to my readers no matter what romance genre I’m writing.

What’s next for you?
Highlander in the Mist, M/F historical time travel Romance, is due for release from Luminosity Publishing on 21 November.  I am very excited about this release, it will make you laugh and cry and definitely has an ahh ending.  I have a sequel planned for this story too. Luminosity is releasing The Pride Brother’s Series one a month from October to Mach 2015. Current WIP and I have many include, Escape to the Highlands, M/F, Georgian historical Highlander romance, Stalked, a contemporary Sci-fi and Jackson, M/M BDSM.

Unlocked
H.C. Brown

The Special Ops genetic experiments were designed to create super soldiers, not sex-addicted doms.

When Delano Briggs, BDSM club owner and volunteer firefighter, is called to aid in the evacuation of a burning New York hotel, he thinks it’s just another job.

But after rescuing the irresistibly sexy Chanze, he learns that behind the velvet curtains of the five-star hotel is one of the most exclusive, and immoral, prostitution rings in the country. For the men at the Cloister aren’t merely lovers for hire, but genetically enhanced sex slaves, created to provide the brothel’s rich clientele with the most insatiable doms and delicious subs.

Kept against his will by the doomsday chip implanted in his brain, Chanze sees no chance of escape. Until Delano and his three fellow super-enhanced operatives infiltrate the club for a walk on the wild side.
