AUSSIE MONTH with Alli Sinclair
Describe yourself in one word:
What is your background with regard to writing?
I’ve worked as a copywriter and have lived and travelled overseas (I set my books in exotic locales)
Tell us about Luna Tango:
Luna Tango (first book in the Dance Card Series) and is about three generations of women and their turbulent relationship with the tango. Set in beautiful Argentina, the story is a mix of family saga, mystery and romance with some very sexy characters. (Pssst …. I suggest you meet Carlos Escudero from Luna Tango—professional tango dancer and man of intense passion!)
What inspired Luna Tango?
Luna Tango is my love letter to Argentina after spending many years living there and falling in love with the country and people.
What are you reading right now?
Shooting Butterflies by T.M. Clark (a fellow Harlequin MIRA author) who writes AMAZING books set in Africa.
Number one thing to do on your bucket list?
Take the kids and hubby to South America and give them a special tour of the cities I used to live in and my most favourite places on the continent.
Best thing about being an Aussie?
Our sense of community, especially in times of hardship, as we are happy to band together and help others, including complete strangers.
What you want readers to know about the romance genre?
There are many, many different subgenres and there is bound to be one (or lots!) that appeal. If you try one subgenre and it doesn’t gel, give another a go because you are bound to find something (or many!) to your liking.
What have you got in store for your readers in 2015?
Flamenco Fire will be released later in the year and I’m super excited to share a story set in the world of flamenco and the beautiful city of Granada, Spain. There’ll be family secrets, romance, and a decades old mystery.
What were your big achievements of 2014?
After so many years working towards being a published author I finally realised my dream with the release of Luna Tango by Harlequin MIRA. And to finish 2014 with a bang, I also won the AusRom Today Reader’s Choice Awards BOOK OF THE YEAR! Sending a massive thank you to all who nominated and voted for Luna Tango – your support is greatly appreciated!
Desperate to understand the reason her mother abandoned her twenty years ago to become a world-class tango dancer, journalist Dani McKenna delves into the world of tango in the hope of exposing decades of lies and deception that have threatened three generations of her family.
When Dani meets the enigmatic Carlos Escudero—a revered tango dancer and man of intense passion—they work together to understand why her grandmother lives in fear of all things tango, and how the brutal murder of a tango music legend in 1950s Buenos Aires now affects her family.
Despite her lack of rhythm, Dani and Carlos create their own dance of the souls, until the differences in their cultures causes a deep rift. As she seeks to reconnect with Carlos and rebuild her family, Dani finds tango—the dance of passion—becomes a complicated dance of betrayal.
