From Australia to the World…

Chicago. The last stop of their wildly successful US tour sees Australia’s biggest rock band, The Screaming Tuesdays, in sultry, summer-time Chicago to play two sold-out shows. But the stage is not where the action is, and no one knows what goes on behind the scenes…

KM Golland chats Chase:

Tell us a little more about Chase’s story:
Well, Chase is not a band member. He’s a fan of the band and wants nothing more than to see them play in his hometown. He’s twenty-five years of age with Chestnut hair and blue eyes, a builder who has recently split up with his girlfriend. Therefore, seeing the Tuesdays play is concert is just what the Doctor ordered.

What inspired Chase’s story:
The general outline of the story was given to me by Escape Publishing; the music, the atmosphere, the ecstasy: it’s all too much for two strangers and they let the moment steal them away. I loved this concept. It was challenging. I wanted to create a story about impulse and shedding your inhibitions.

What was your biggest challenge in writing Chase’s story?
My biggest challenge was writing a believable dynamic between two strangers. It had to be tangible enough for them to get hot and heavy in a public setting.

Why will we love Chase?
He’s a typically sweet, young guy with raging hormones, a dirty mouth, and a love of music. He’s also ripped, tanned and hot as hell.

The Secret Confessions: Backstage series promises ‘an all-access pass to sex, love, and rock ‘n roll’. What was the appeal of joining this series? Similarly, what has been the biggest challenge?
What’s not to like? Sex, love, and rock ‘n roll. That’s quite an appeal don’t you think? What was also appealing was being a part of a shared project. I really enjoyed writing a small segment of an even bigger story.

Eden Summers chats Josh:

Tell us a little more about Josh’s story:
Josh is actually in the security team. He’s in charge of making sure the gorgeous men of The Screaming Tuesdays are protected. He’s also one of the men able to hand out backstage passes to the beautiful women in the crowd. There are many perks to his job.

What inspired Josh’s story:
We were each given a brief outline of what Escape wanted from the story. With a muscled, Aussie security guard in mind, it wasn’t hard to come up with a short, erotic story. I’ve also been writing my Reckless Beat rockers for years now, so my thoughts are never far from tour life.

What was your biggest challenge in writing Josh’s story?
The stories in this series are extremely sexy but in a very short word length. The challenge is to find the perfect balance of heat, emotion and character depth to make sure readers love the small insight into this fabulous world of rock.

Why will we love Josh?
He has a huge heart hiding behind his mask of arrogance. He’s also extremely talented in the bedroom…or the storage room in this instance.

The Secret Confessions: Backstage series promises ‘an all-access pass to sex, love, and rock ‘n roll’. What was the appeal of joining this series? Similarly, what has been the biggest challenge?
I was extremely excited to be asked to join this series. In an often lonely profession, it was great to collaborate on this series…and by collaborate I mean share sexy images for inspiration.

I didn’t have any challenges in the group environment at all. If anything, it only made me crave more experiences like this. It was a pleasure and an honour to be involved.

Lexxie Couper chats Yanis:

Tell us a little more about Yanis’ story:
Yanis is the band’s manager. Even though he’s pretty much the same age as most of them, he tends to think of them like his sons. He’s protective of them, is determined to make sure the world discovers their incredible talent and controls their futures as best as a manager of a group of rockers can. He is also an Alpha man to the extreme and incredibly proud of his Greek heritage. His work ethic is unparalleled. He has little time for relationships beyond that of his band. Most people consider him arrogant. Yanis thinks of himself as “supremely confident”. Sex (which he is very very good at) is an activity he partakes in only to relieve pressure…until he meets Carson, the US tour manager. And then things get…interesting.

What inspired Yanis’ story:
I wanted to see what happened when two alpha personality types clashed, but the twist was to see how a female alpha and male alpha would deal with each other. Suffice to say, the answer is “with a lot of moans and challenges thrown down” 🙂

What was your biggest challenge in writing Yanis’ story?
His Greek heritage. I’m Aussie through-and-through (with a splash of Scottish thrown into the mix a lot of generations ago). I did a lot of research on Greek men for this book. Can I just say there are a lot of very sexy Greek men out there? Whoa. Capturing Yanis’s Greek background and conveying it through his actions and personality was a challenge. One I hope I have met.

Why will we love Yanis?
He is the epitome of an Alpha male brought weak at the knees by the woman who not only captivates him sexually, but is his intellectual equal. He knows how to completely take charge of the situation, but finds himself at first stunned by his lack of control when it comes to Carson, and then acknowledging she has undone him and respects her and desires her more so because of it. What’s not to love about that? Oh, and he looks fucking amazing in a suit.

The Secret Confessions: Backstage series promises ‘an all-access pass to sex, love, and rock ‘n roll’. What was the appeal of joining this series? Similarly, what has been the biggest challenge?
I’ve been immersed in the rock star world for some time now with my series Heart of Fame, so it was wonderful to approach it from a different angle. Plus, have you seen the other authors involved in Backstage?? I mean, how could I say no to being included with an incredible group of authors like them? To be honest, I’m still in awe. The biggest challenge was knowing I couldn’t be, unlike Yanis, tell everyone else what they had to do. That was tricky 🙂

Zaide Bishop chats Theo:

Tell us a little more about your The Screaming Tuesdays band member, Theo:
Originally from Cairns, Theo has a large family with one brother and three sisters, as well as a lot of close cousins. He’s always on his phone—messaging family members with updates and is always hassling the rest of the band with pictures of his sister’s and cousin’s kids. On stage he comes across as silent and intimidating. Off stage is very laid back, but still quiet. He’s definitely the big brother of the group.

What inspired Theo’s story:
I wanted to write a story about friendships and family. My three band members, Theo, Saywer and Rei are from very different backgrounds. They all grew up in Australia, but they’re from different cultures. Sawyer also has a cousin in one of the other books. My three boys are best friends, they’ve been best friends for a long time, and they’d do anything for each other. But family relationships, long term friendships, are complicated and beautiful. Rei is in love with Sawyer, but Sawyer is too busy playing the field. It’s been a problem in the group for a while. Theo has no idea how to fix it until Andi McNamara comes along.

What was your biggest challenge in writing Theo’s story?
There is a four person sex scene and keeping track of all the limbs was the biggest challenge. Eight arms, eight legs—that’s a lot of heat and a lot of positions to keep track of. It was a lot of fun though. I had to write a big long bullet list of movements to keep it all straight.

Why will we love Theo?
At his heart, Theo is a family guy. He loves his sisters and a big part of his conflict in the story is losing the necklace his sister gave him for his birthday. He’s also tall, dark and handsome. Who doesn’t love that? Theo is also interested in music. Music theory, music history, famous musicians, music styles. He’s more interested in the element of creation than being famous. Even if he wasn’t in a band, he’d never stop making music.

The Secret Confessions: Backstage series promises ‘an all-access pass to sex, love, and rock ‘n roll’. What was the appeal of joining this series? Similarly, what has been the biggest challenge?
It was great to be a part of a team of authors. We all worked on our stories alone, but we had an online community for the planning. We talked and shared our works in progress and posted images of actors or models we imagined as our characters. Writing is very solitary, so being a part of a team is a lot of fun. There really hasn’t been any challenges. It was a very smooth write. It’s hard to complain about writing, it’s the best job ever.

Shona Husk chats Kelly:

Tell us a little more about Kelly’s story:
Kelly is one of the roadies and cousin to Sawyer. This is Kelly’s rather enviable gap year J He had to work off the tag that he’s only there because of Sawyer. He’s also had to work at keep his lust for one of the other roadies under wraps.

What inspired Kelly’s story:
A m/m roadie story left me a whole lot of space to play. The first character to appear was Kelly (I need a character before I have a plot and even a short sexy read needs a plot). Right away I knew he was younger and crushing on one of the other roadies. From there it became a story about a bi-curious young man wanting to take the jump. After writing a few NA stories around the same time I think I was still in the NA mindset where characters are trying to work out who they are and what they want and where they are heading in life. For Kelly this is a pivotal moment and one he won’t forget 😉

What was your biggest challenge in writing Kelly’s story?
I wanted two very real and distinct characters. Kelly is young and trying to work out who he is, he has an opportunity to explore. Jasper is older but has been burned by his previous relationship and is a little jaded. It’s not a forever relationship but it’s what they both need right now…that can be incredibly sexy and romantic. Mr Right-Now can be just as important as Mr Right depending on where you are in your life.

Why will we love Kelly?
Screwing up the courage to ask someone out is hard, knowing that the clock is ticking and if you don’t act now that moment will be gone forever adds extra pressure. I think people will really feel for Kelly and the dilemma he is in.

The Secret Confessions: Backstage series promises ‘an all-access pass to sex, love, and rock ‘n roll’. What was the appeal of joining this series? Similarly, what has been the biggest challenge?
Writing about rock stars is fun 🙂 I like writing the shorter scorching hot reads and it’s nice to work in a shared world with other authors and see what they come up with. The biggest challenge in a project like this is continuity between the stories and making sure character references are consistent.

Rhian Cahill chats Jet:

Tell us a little more about Jet’s story:
Well, he’s hot. 😉 Actually, he’s a bit of a mystery because he has this image – the one the media sees and shows the world – but there’s more to him than that. Luckily Charlie can see beneath the hard rocker veneer.

What inspired Jet’s story:
Kate. Lol No seriously, Kate came up with the concept and I just rolled with it.

What was your biggest challenge in writing Jet’s story?
Digging deep enough and showing the real guy within the word count.

Why will we love Jet?
Because he’s hot :). And who doesn’t want to get a little dirty with a rock star?

The Secret Confessions: Backstage series promises ‘an all-access pass to sex, love, and rock ‘n roll’. What was the appeal of joining this series? Similarly, what has been the biggest challenge?
I was part of Secret Confessions: Sydney Housewives series and already loved the Secret Confessions concept so it was a no brainer to say yes to Backstage. And honestly, who can resist playing with a hot rock star? Not me. The challenge was the length. Jet’s a big character and getting to know him in 12,000 words was a tough ask but well worth the effort.
