What inspired this book?
I wanted to write stories about heroines and heroes who’d had it tough in their younger years and who through various reasons ended up in a fictional refuge in the Blue Mountains. These characters emerged from various childhood traumas, strong, independent and wary where matters of the heart were concerned. I wanted to give them the HEA they deserved. I also wanted to write about the trials of a small town doing it tough in today’s economy and with the hardships they face every day living in isolated and harsh localities. I then dreamt up a fictional small town based on Manilla, NSW and invited twelve other writers to join me in producing individual stories that will progressively reveal how this community comes back to life.

Who are the main characters and why will we love them?
My hero, Dodge, is an easy-going, kind-hearted guy with wide shoulders (perfect for leaning on) and cool, hazel eyes that sees straight through to your soul. He knows almost from the first moment he meets Tessa, that she’s the girl for him even though he’s certain she’s hiding a secret. He has a psychic grandmother who is hand-in-glove with Bindarra Creek’s CWA and is a bit of a law unto herself character. Tessa is used to dealing with the realities of life by herself. Her upbringing has made her tough on the outside but she longs for the security of true love. She’s actually a bit of a lost soul and perfect for Dodge. Before coming to Bindarra Creek, her sole purpose in life is to keep her beloved daughter safe.

For you, what is the best thing about Fridays?
I love Fridays, it signals the end of my work week with the tantalizing lure of two whole days in which I cram in my family, housework and my writing. And then of course, once a month, its get-together-time with my local romance writers where we can talk non-stop about the joys and challenges of writing. Bliss.

What’s coming up next for you?
A SciFiRom short story set in my Darkon Warriors world coming out 8Nov2015. Its called, The Slave Trap – has some action and adventure and some very hot loving going on. And even better, its going up free for a limited time on iTunes, Kobo, Smashwords and B&N (and fingers crossed, Amazon too). And if I can get organised in time, an Australian outback short romance called The Cowboy’s Gift, out in December.
