Build Us Your Ideal Story with Elizabeth M Darcy
What a wonderful idea, shopping from a menu to write a story. This is going to be fun.
Let me see. . . .
I’d spend my first $4 in a Sweep you off your feet first meeting, because in Winnawarra the first meeting between Emily an English rose fresh off the plane from the UK and Doug the six-five handsome suntanned cowboy brings an instant connection in this scene.
Her gaze moved over shoulders wide enough to carry a piano, encased in a pale blue tee shirt stretched across a muscular chest, then down to worn jeans and dusty boots. He scooped the bottle up in one suntanned hand and held it out to her. The deepest blue eyes she had ever seen in her life scanned her features. She stared back at his handsome face taking in his long straight nose and determined chin. The ragged pink scar along his jaw gave him a roguish appearance but did not detract from the animal magnetism given off by the stranger. A lock of raven hair had fallen over one eye, and she had the sudden need to tuck the curl under the brim of his hat. Oh my God! You are gorgeous.
My next choice would be to spend $1 on An emotionally charged love affair. In Winnawarra, Doug an ex-air force chopper pilot injured in Afghanistan suffers from PTSD. His flashbacks would scare most people but Emily knows what makes the gentle man tick:
All the tension seemed to drain from him. “You’ll have to make sure I’m not losing it, Em’. Everything you say makes sense and breaks through the panic. I need you, Em’. Help me keep my head straight.”
When he pressed kisses along her chin, nothing else mattered. She slid both hands around his neck and buried her fingers in his thick hair. Emotion choked her, and she hardly recognised her throaty voice. “I’m here for you and for as long as you need me, I promise.”
“You have no idea how good that makes me feel.” Doug brushed a tender kiss across her lips then lifted his head and stared into her eyes. “I’m so glad you’re not scared of me. I’ll never hurt you.”
Emily swallowed the lump in her throat. Weak at the knees from his embrace, she would have walked on fire for one more kiss. “I’m counting on it — I mean you. I trust you, Doug, and I don’t for one second believe you’re crazy.”
He gave her a crooked grin. “Jeez, Em’, how could you trust a broken-down soldier?”
My last $5, I’d spend on A Happily Ever After Ending because everyone deserves a happy ever after. Don’t you agree?
If you haven’t read Winnawarra yet, then fasten your seatbelt for a heart pounding ride into the Australian Outback.
I am having so much fun writing the sequel to Winnawarra, I will look forward to sharing its release with you in 2018. In the next story, Doug’s brother, Robbie a doctor with the Royal Flying Doctor Service, finds his one true love. Of course, the path to true love will have many twist and turns plus a good dose of thrills.
