Mistletoe Madness with Amy Andrews

What are your plans for Christmas 2014?
I’ll be heading back to my hometown for Christmas. It’s hard to co-ordinate with teenagers who are working etc these days but I’m hoping we’ll get a couple of days to kick back with family.

Tell us about a usual Christmas in your home?
Get up, open presents thankfully not at the crack of dawn now I have teenagers who prefer to sleep then raid the Xmas tree. Ham and eggs for breakfast then a continual orgy of food until we’re all lying on the ground groaning no more, no more.

Any gift in particular that you’d love to see wrapped under the tree?
Could I please get a couple of extra months gift wrapped just for me, Santa?

What is a typical Christmas lunch and/or dinner at your house?
We go the whole traditional turkey, plum pudding  dinner at  my house because even though there are no Robins sitting on snow-laden tree limbs in my neck of the woods seafood just doesn’t seem like Christmas to me. But you can damn well bet that the air-con is going to be set to freeze!

Tell us, what is the one dish that gets served every single year? Is there a story behind this?
It’s my job (and my joy) to make the plum pudding every year – have perfected it over many years. Haven’t had many successes in the rag so now I use a basin but I’m okay with that as I am such the pudding girl and Christmas is just not complete for me without some rich, boozy pudding! I also made my custard on cream instead of milk last year for the first time and I’m never going back!

Essentials for an Aussie Christmas…
I suspect they don’t differ from anywhere else in the world – family, good food, good booze. And maybe a swimming pool!

Your best Silly Season survival tip?
Just surrender to it – diet on Boxing Day!

What will you be reading this Christmas?
Oh my – everything that is sitting in piles by my bed and on my iPad! Please let me have a couple of weeks over Christmas to read!

What have been your big achievements in 2014?
Writing wise, without a doubt it has been hitting the USA Today bestseller list with No More Mr Nice Guy! It took me 10 years to hit that sucker and it was damn sweet let me tell you J Being a Ruby finalist and winning favourite contemporary romance at ARRA were also so very special. To be nominated in two AusRom categories has also been a real thrill!

What are your plans/goals for 2015?
The NYT? Kidding 🙂 ….. I have some indie projects I’m really excited about doing in 2015. I think I have about 5 books coming out in the first half of next year so it’s going to be a bit of a whirlwind!

Tis The Season To Be Kissed
