Tell us about Tears of Reality:
This novel was written in conjunction with an author in the US. It’s about two couples during the Vietnam War. It’s poignant, sexy and covers the differences in attitudes at the time. We released it under the author name A.L. Cook.
What inspired this novel?
We had been talking about writing together for a while, I grew up during the Vietnam War and we thought it would be an interesting setting. We knew we could explore the controversy, relationships and attitudes.
What are you reading right now?
Never Again by Angela McConkey
Number one thing to do on your bucket list?
Visit Gracelands in the US. I have always been an Elvis nut.
Best thing about being an Aussie?
The freedom, the gorgeous Queensland weather, the wide open spaces.
What you want readers to know about the romance genre?
I see the romance genre as somewhere readers can escape to. It takes place in a perfect world where there is almost always a happy ending. The heroine is usually rescued from the pit of despair, she is usually beautiful, the hero is usually dashing and handsome. It is fairytale land in many ways and what woman doesn’t like a fairytale no matter how happy your life?
What have you got in store for your readers in 2015?
I have a new book coming out in February called Captive. It’s about murder, blackmail and of course the romance. My husband and I are travelling to Texas in the US in February to spend time with very special author friends who inspired my Western novels.
What were your big achievements of 2014?
I was thrilled in 2014 to have my book Blind Acceptance nominated for a Rone Award.
