AUSSIE MONTH: Eden Summers

AUSSIE MONTH with Eden Summers

Describe yourself in one word:
Troubled.

What is your background with regard to writing?
Writing wasn’t a blip on my radar until I became pregnant with my first son. I started reading romance—obsessively. I couldn’t get enough. I’d always had a head full of stories, but never (ever) considered writing them down. But the more I read, the more my mind churned. In late 2010, I finally put my fingers to work, and after many failed attempts to stick to one story, I finished Concealed Desire in 2011. Not long after I had my first contract and was officially published in 2012. Since then, I’ve published two short stories, three novellas, and five novels.

Tell us about A Shot of Sin:
A Shot of Sin is the first short novel in the Vault series. It’s based in Melbourne, Australia and set in a secret sex club.

What inspired A Shot of Sin?
Honestly? I needed a break from my Reckless Beat series. The Vault was meant to be a short and hot. A mere diversion from the non-stop rockers…but it turned into something bigger and better.

What are you reading right now?
Nothing right now, but I recently finished Stepbrother Dearest.

Number one thing to do on your bucket list?
Travel to the US and meet a heap of my online friends.

Best thing about being an Aussie?
Comradery. Aussies stick by Aussies.

What you want readers to know about the romance genre?
It’s all about evoking emotion. We want to make your heart palpitate. And the genre is extremely broad. I think there used to be a perception that romance was all about kissing and one-liners, but today there are so many different types—dark, erotic, sweet, historical, sci-fi, fantasy, taboo. There’s something for everyone.

What have you got in store for your readers in 2015?
I’m spending my time on the fourth Reckless Beat novel at the moment. Sultry Groove will hopefully be released in the first half of the year but at the moment I don’t have a release date. After that, I’ll be working on the next novel in the Vault series.

What were your big achievements of 2014?
I received my first contract from a publisher that was on my bucket list —Samhain. I also wrote my longest story—Undesired Lust, which finished up being around 96k. Another big moment for me was being asked to sit on a panel at the upcoming Australian Romance Readers Conference alongside some truly awesome authors—Nalini Singh, Kylie Scott and Lexxie Couper.

Throw back a shot of pure pleasure.

Leo Petrova is between a rock and the hard place in his pants. Shot of Sin, the night club he owns with his two best friends, is short one bartender downstairs. The only available replacement is the upstairs bar manager—the one woman Leo knows he can’t take downstairs, can’t have, can’t touch. The one time he gave in to temptation convinced Leo that Shay’s no match for his sexual demands.

Only a select few know Shot of Sin’s guilty secret, that beneath the packed dance floor lies a very private sex club—the Vault. The place Leo can let his sexual proclivities run wild.

Shay Porter is curious as to why her boss, the king of mixed messages, seems almost desperate to keep her from discovering what’s on the other side of the guarded door at the back of the club.

Sliding out of her comfort zone and into Leo’s arms risks everything. Their friendship, the Vault, and most of all, their hearts.

Warning: This sex club does not carry the government’s stamp of approval. Contains devilish debauchery, delightful deviance, and dancing on the edge of the darkest of sexual desires.
