AUSSIE MONTH with Kendall Talbot
Describe yourself in one word:
What is your background with regard to writing?
I scribbled ‘write a book’ on my bucket list to improve my spelling, grammar and vocabulary. So when my husband bought me the Year of the Novel course in 2008 at the Qld Writers Centre I had no idea how much it would change my life.
Tell us about Treasured Secrets:
Treasured Secrets is the first book in an adrenaline-fuelled new series introducing sassy sexy characters, exotic locations and breathless adventure.
What inspired this novel?
My husband and I travelled to Tuscany for our 20th anniversary and we did a tour of an insignificant church in Florence. The church floor was a mosaic of black and white tiles. In the centre of the main aisle was an oval and our tour guide told us that they tossed the bodies into it during the Great Plague of 1348. By the time we were on the plane flying home I was writing Treasured Secrets.
What are you reading right now?
I’m a bit crazy, I have 2 books on the go: The French Prize by Cathryn Hein and Desert God by Wilbur Smith.
Number one thing to do on your bucket list?
See the Terracotta warriors in China.
Best thing about being an Aussie?
What you want readers to know about the romance genre?
Romance offers an incredibly diverse range of genres to explore. I can guarantee everyone will find something to their liking.
What have you got in store for your readers in 2015?
I have the first 2 books in my trilogy being released. Treasured Secrets is due April and Treasured Deception is due September. I also have my first print book, a crime novel – Double Take – being released in August.
What were your big achievements of 2014?
Winning the RuBY – Romantic Book of the Year. Yippee.
A man with a secret. A woman who’s determined to reveal it. And an enemy whose destiny is tied to the secret remaining buried forever.
The last place Rosalina expected the clue to a 700-year-old mystery to lead her was back into the arms of Archer, the man who broke her heart. When neither can solve the puzzle without the other, they set off on a new adventure. They’re forced to ignore the sparks that still fly unhindered between them as their search for the golden riches weaves from Tuscany’s underbelly to Archer’s luxurious yacht in the Greek Islands.
Archer desperately wants to salvage his shattered relationship with Rosalina but fighting for her love soon takes a back seat to fighting for their lives. Ruthless competition is hot on their tail and will do anything to get his hands on the treasure. Murder is just the beginning. With evil close on their trail, and Archer wrestling with the remnants of a childhood tragedy, Rosalina begins to wonder if some secrets were never meant to be revealed.
