AUSSIE MONTH with Melissa Craig
Describe yourself in one word:
Sensually-imaginative
What is your background with regard to writing?
I have always been an avid reader, and never set out to be an author until mid, 2011. Two years before that, I had read around 400 books, and characters began developing in my mind. Now I am a writer more than a reader.
Tell us about The Unblemished Librarian:
The Unblemished Librarian has a sliver of erotica, a contemporary romance set in the most populous city of Australia; Sydney. It’s about Kiera a librarian and Boyd the bad boy barman colliding in more ways than one. I poured my heart and soul into this book, pushing my writing limits and numerous times my daughter found me crying while I was writing. Pass the tissues and get ready for emotions to explode with this baby.
What inspired this novel?
The idea of this novel started a few years back when I was going to write a novella for one of the erotic publishers in the US as they were asking for submissions involving a virgin. I started it, but then my Simply Breathtaking Series popped into my mind so I put the librarian aside and after spending so much time in Sydney in 2012 Kiera and Boyd invaded my mind again.
What are you reading right now?
Dare Devil by Lucinda Brant
Number one thing to do on your bucket list?
I want to visit London and have a successful book signing at Waterstones Book Store. #Dream.
Best thing about being an Aussie?
Living in this beautiful country and having the best of everything. The reef, rainforest and rural settings. Plus our amazing wildlife.
What you want readers to know about the romance genre?
I write about Australia, Australian characters and our iconic destinations. Why not allow the rest of the world experience a slice of what we have and get to experience in our everyday world.
What have you got in store for your readers in 2015?
I will be publishing a novel called “Majestic Males” the follow on from Ample Attraction. Ample Attraction was nominated for the ARRA Favourite Erotic Romance in 2012. Its part of my Erotica series, the Simply Breathtaking Series set on an island in The Great Barrier Reef. While I plan to publish a few short stories as well. I have the Run Series I want to expand on and Pleasures of the Professor.
What were your big achievements of 2014?
Publishing The Unblemished Librarian and reaching the top 100 paid on iBooks (iTunes) was a dream come true. iBooks had exclusive digital rights of The Unblemished Librarian for two months and the first week of publishing it in September, 2014 it reached number 99 of the top paid books out of ALL genres and this baby stayed in the top 100 for nearly a month. I was excited when it hit the top 20 in the romance genre, but when it was on the main page of iTunes in the top100 list I had a pinch me moment.
The Unblemished Librarian
Melissa Craig
A contemporary romance set in the most populous city of Australia; Sydney—home of the iconic Sydney Opera House, Harbour Bridge and Kiera James. The quiet librarian goes about her daily duties unnoticed by the world, trying to support her father and keep the family home afloat. Up until now, she’s been happy to live out her love life through romance books.
But now she’s allowed her heart to fall for a man she has never met, only laid eyes on. She is smitten, bowled over by his boldness, beauty and blazing sensuality. He generates a heart flutter unlike any other. But, is it the best move to feel affection for a man that works at a strip club? A man who’s surrounded by bountiful beauties on a daily basis? Would her late mother approve of Boyd and his buff blessing of a body for her unblemished librarian?
Boyd’s lavish lifestyle overlooking Sydney Cove may impress the stereotypical female, but not Kiera. She has had enough tragedy in life to know that money isn’t everything, and life is short. Will Kiera go out on a limb, against her better judgement so he notices her, or will she come to her senses and be the only girl that walks away from him before her heart is ripped apart.
