Nell Harper and Vincent Mason have sexual chemistry, but Nell has a life plan that doesn’t include romance right now, and as for Vincent, well he prefers simple unemotional BDSM contracts. A six-month no-strings-attached arrangement seemed like the perfect solution. Fast forward five months later where the book kicks-off and the arrangement is unravelling as things get personal. The story is raw, sexually and emotionally.
What inspired this book?
I stumbled across the concept of ‘the languages of love’, (coined by Gary Chapman in his book The Five Languages of Love), which explained that we tend to express love in different ways. A lot of BDSM books focus on the sexual aspects … spanking, blindfolds, handcuffs. But the physical activities are only half of the equation because in a romantic relationship, sex is an expression of love. So the idea for the book was really how would vanilla and kink chart these waters. How would they communicate … or miscommunicate? Is love itself experienced differently or just the expression of it?
Who are the main characters and why will we love them?
The heroine, Nell Harper, is smart, is a woman who knows what she wants and has set out a clear plan on how to have the ‘perfect life’. The arrangement turns everything she thinks she wants on its head. I love that Nell is brave enough to question what that perfect life should be and to follow her heart even if it leads her somewhere unconventional. As for Vincent Mason, the hero, he is the perfect balance of hard and soft for me. I love that despite being a dominant alpha, he’s just as vulnerable as Nell as the story unfolds.
For you, what’s the best thing about Fridays?
By the time Friday rolls round I know it means the next two days I get to be a fulltime writer … add to that lazy days and easy company – what’s not to love?
