2017 Christmas Extravaganza featuring S.M Spencer
I’m sure everyone has heard that song that starts off with “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas …” Well, for me this year it certainly is! I’m originally from the Northern Hemisphere (California to be exact) and while I’ve never had a true white Christmas, we had a lot of wet ones as well as a few where the snow fell but melted as it hit the ground. But here in Melbourne, where I’ve lived for over thirty years now, it’s usually getting pretty hot by early December. In fact, we had a few hot days just last week. But as I write this, Melbourne has just had the wettest three December days in something like twenty years!
Where I live in the outer south east, we’ve had over 150mm—and that’s almost 6 inches on the old scale! If that hasn’t put me in a Christmas frame of mind, nothing will!
But this year I’m actually relatively organised. I bought something for myself earlier in the year (at an essential oils party) and decided it would make the perfect present for several of my friends, so bought them the same thing. How’s that for getting presents for others that you like for yourself! As for decorations, the tree will come out next week, and then there will be the cards. Yes, my husband and I still send some cards by “snail mail” mostly to people who are interstate or ones we don’t see often.
What about you? Do you still send actual paper Christmas cards? Or have you completely embraced the digital versions? I like them too, but there’s just something about getting a pretty card in the mail. 🙂
Merry Christmas everyone,
Sandy (S M) Spencer
