BUILD US YOUR IDEAL STORY with Justine Lewis
Build Us Your Story with Justine Lewis
I’m always up for a challenge, though staying within budget was very difficult (and sadly I have expensive tastes).
Sigh Worthy Male lead
I’d spend $5 on a sigh worth male lead (shhhh – don’t tell J’aimee, but I’d probably would have paid more). The hero of my new release, The Reluctant Lover, is Liam Kennedy. He’s a foreign correspondent who wants to keep roaming the world, but circumstances force him back home to Australia. Liam is my favourite kind of hero – sexy (of course), in that dark, rugged kind of way, funny, clever and caring. And just a bit tortured. He’s mostly a beta hero – but he knows how alpha-up when the situation calls for it. Most of all, Liam is the hero that my heroine deserves – and that’s what makes him perfect.
Emotional connection to characters – $3
I’d spend $3 on emotional connection to characters. My heroine, Katherine, was fun to write. She’s a television journalist who is at a cross-roads in her career. A career into which she’s poured all her energy since her marriage breakdown and she isn’t going to give it up easily. Katherine is outwardly strong, but facing the worries and problems we all face when something we’ve worked hard for is on the line. Being in the public eye, Katherine’s anxieties are writ larger than my own.
Dizzying sexual chemistry – $2
$2! What a bargain! Liam and Katherine are co-workers and on screen together. Getting them to keep their hands off each other in the workplace was hard. Katherine doesn’t believe Liam is truly attracted to her and knows he’s like to leave on the first plane he can, and when Katherine finally gives in to her desires, she gets much more than she bargained for.
The Reluctant Lover
Justine Lewis
Katherine Bright is one of Australia’s most acclaimed television journalists. She’s interviewed presidents and brought down corrupt governments but her ratings are plummeting and rumour has it her show is about to be axed. Katherine has given up a lot for her career, so when the network offers her a chance to keep the show running, she’ll take it – no matter what she has to do.
Foreign correspondent Liam Kennedy has recently returned to Australia and when Katherine meets him at an awards night, he seems a perfect distraction from her troubles. Liam is the whole cliché: tall, dark and totally kissable. Except for one thing. He’s younger than Katherine. Much younger. And when Katherine realises she needs Liam to save her show she finds herself in an impossible situation.
Can one of TV’s most successful women stay true to herself and her ambitions and defy convention to be with the man she loves?

About the Author:
Justine is the award winning author of fun, contemporary romances. She has spent her professional life writing legal advice – which some may say is similar to creative writing– but the lack of sexy heroes and happy endings led her to try writing romance. She loves Earl Grey tea, talking about which of Jane Austen’s novels is her favorite, and searching for the perfect frock. She will read anything, but loves romance most of all.
